The present visit in Europe has allowed the team to realize a personal ski touring adventure, back in May. This alpinism activity is on for the next few months in New Zealand again and for those of you interested to get a taster, we do have a scheduled trip.
But here our story from the Swiss ski tour: hitting the road once the rain promised to stop, we left the car in Grindelwald and took the train uphill, the first one taking us to the Kleine Scheidegg where we changed over into the Jungfraubahn which this year is a 100 years old! Off into the elements and a short time later we arrived at the Mönchshut where Heidi the hut warden warmly welcomed us. The next morning, no clouds around and a vast and beautiful play ground available.
To climb over the little pass between the Gross and Hinter Fiescherhorn, we strapped the skis onto the packs and used ice axe and crampons.
The Finsteraarhorn hut situated at 3048 m was home for one night, then on over the Grünhornlücke down to the Konkordiaplatz. Another front was approaching and we decided to make the most of the day but head out of the mountains nevertheless. Short but sweet.
