End of March/start of April had Mountain Guide Gary Dickson and Kasia and Tim from Australia head into the mountains for a 6 day Alpine climbing instruction course .Based out of Plateau hut , covering, knots, hitches, roping up for glacier travel, belays, cramponing and ice climbing, anchors, mountain weather, avalanche, etc…….

January 2018. A mountaineering course was run by Internationally qualified and experienced mountain guide Gary Dickson with two keen beginner mountaineers from Sydney , Australia.

Decemebr 2017 had Mountain Guide Gary Dickson head up to the Mount Cook Climbing region to instruct an Alpine climbing course.
Spring Ski touring NZ
Novemeber 2017 – a momentous occassion having the ‘crew’ back doing a fabulous ski touring trip based at the recently spruced up Tasman Saddle hut, Head of the Tasman Glacier, NZ. John C, Phil, Bill and ( new to the ‘crew’) John K had four days of excellent spring ski touring, hut banter and general sunny alpine / backcountry skiing goodtimes. Great to having it happen again for the base crew after a break of several years. 🙂
Fox Glacier Guides specialized mountain training
October. 10 days on the wild west coast of New Zealand. Mountain Guide Gary Dickson has just been working with the senior staff of Fox Glacier Guiding with some specialized mountain training. Chancellor Hut beautifully situated above the Fox Icefall was a great location as a base for some of the training. Chancellor dome and the Fox Ice provided great terrain.
Climbing in Switzerland
Aarons 50th will be well remembered. As a starter, an ascent of the very beautiful Mt Blanc du Cheilon, followed by a stay in a historic mountain hotel. Midweek two multipitch rock ascents, one in the Rhone valley and one high above the Glacier d Orny, and a finish with an ascent of the NW granite ridge of the Tete Blanche and the Petite fourche.

Jungfrau – classic alpinism in Europe
This weekend Anand and Mountain Guide Gary journeyed to Grindlewald, took the Jungfrau railway up through the Eiger and Monch to stay Saturday night @ 3600m in the Monchjoch hutte. Sunday they were able to ascend the Jungfrau, one of Switzerlands classic 4000m peaks. A little icy in places requiring excellent crampon technique. Well done Anand!
Private mountaineering instruction Switzerland
Last week, Gary , Steph and Josh had a great week refreshing skills learn’t in New Zealand and applying them to the glaciers , and rock ridges of Switzerland. 1st part of the mountaineering instruction week was in the Trient ice Plateau region based out of Cabane d Orny – a fantastic Swiss Hut with great service and great things to do from there.
Second part we headed to Cabane d Dix and climbed the Mt Blanc Du Cheilon which was in excellent condition. A spectacular view and awesome Swiss summit.
