Spring Ski touring NZ

Novemeber 2017 – a momentous occassion having the  ‘crew’ back doing a fabulous ski touring trip based at the recently spruced up Tasman Saddle hut, Head of the Tasman Glacier, NZ. John C, Phil, Bill and ( new to the ‘crew’) John K had four days of excellent spring ski touring, hut banter and general sunny alpine / backcountry skiing goodtimes. Great to having it happen again for the base crew after a break of several years. 🙂

Fox Glacier Guides specialized mountain training

October. 10 days on the wild west coast of New Zealand.  Mountain Guide Gary Dickson has just been working with the senior staff of Fox Glacier Guiding with some specialized mountain training. Chancellor Hut beautifully situated above the Fox Icefall was a great location as a base for some of the training. Chancellor dome and the Fox Ice provided great terrain.

Climbing in Switzerland

Aarons 50th will be well remembered. As a starter, an ascent of the very beautiful Mt Blanc du Cheilon, followed by a stay in a historic mountain hotel.  Midweek two multipitch rock ascents, one in the Rhone valley and one high above the Glacier d Orny, and a finish with an ascent of the NW granite ridge of the Tete Blanche and the Petite fourche.

Cheer Aaron.

Jungfrau – classic alpinism in Europe

This weekend Anand and Mountain Guide Gary journeyed to Grindlewald, took the Jungfrau railway up through the Eiger and Monch to stay Saturday night @ 3600m in the Monchjoch hutte. Sunday they were able to ascend the Jungfrau, one of Switzerlands classic 4000m peaks. A little icy in places requiring excellent crampon technique. Well done Anand!
